ICYMI: Women’s March in Washington D.C.

Photo Credit: Catharine Tunney/CBC As many of you may have heard, I participated, at my own expense, in the Women’s March in Washington D.C. It was an inspiring demonstration of how people across North American can come together and stand up for the rights and freedoms of all people. It was a truly caring and […]

Instead of accepting my challenge, the Mayor chose to engage in semantics about the recent appointment of Councillor Hubley. I want to […]

The City of Ottawa’s Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development Department has received an application for zoning by-law amendment and site plan control proposal for the development of a gas bar with fast-food restaurant, drive-through facility, and convenience retail use within a 250 square metre building. The site is located at the northwest corner of the Hunt Club Road and Hawthorne Road intersection.

The vacant lot is currently zoned to allow for a gas-bar and car wash; however the applicant is now seeking re-zoning to allow for a drive-through facility. The proposed one-storey building will accommodate a drive-through facility that has the capacity to hold ten vehicles in a queuing line. The site will be accessed by a right-in/right-out entrance off of Hawthorne Road and Hunt Club Road. For further details please visit ottawa.ca/devapps and search 3500 Hawthorne Road.

I invite you to attend a public information meeting where I have asked the applicant to present their application to the community. Please join me on:

  • Pizza for Parkinson’s Fundraiser Launch Event

    16:00-17:30
    2017-06-28

    http://dianedeans.ca/event/pizza-for-parkinsons-fundraiser-launch-event/

I am happy to announce that my annual Parkinson Canada fundraiser, Pizza for Parkinson’s, is back for a third year! For the entire month of July, Boston Pizza (2980 Conroy Road) and KS on the Keys Restaurant (1029 Dazé Street) will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every large pizza to Parkinson Canada. The funds raised will help provide programs and services in support of those living with Parkinson’s and those caring for them.

To kick-off this fundraiser, I would like to invite you to a launch event that I will be hosting at the Greenboro Community Centre (363 Lorry Greenberg Drive) on Wednesday, June 28 from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. For every donation of $5 or more to Parkinson Canada, patrons will be entered into a draw to win a prize provided by the participating restaurants!  Please stop by, enjoy some free pizza, and together we can help support members of the Ottawa community who are coping with this disease. For more information, please call my office at 613-580-2480 or email diane.deans@ottawa.ca.
