As you may already be aware, the City of Ottawa’s Planning, Infrastructure and Economic Development Department has received an Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment to permit the development of a six-storey residential care facility at 1452, 1460 and 1470 Hunt Club Road, 1525 and 1531 Sieveright Avenue.
The facility would be used to provide temporary accommodation, meals, transportation, and other logistical support services to residents of the Baffin Region of Nunavut, who are in Ottawa to access essential medical services that are not available in their own communities.
This application was placed on hold in January 2022. Earlier this month, the Applicant contacted the City to advise they would be resuming their application, effective immediately.
I invite you to attend a virtual public information meeting on Tuesday, April 26 at 6pm to discuss the proposal in more detail. I have invited the Applicant to present their application to the community, and the lead City Planner responsible for this file to provide an overview of the planning application process. The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period, during which community members can ask questions and voice concerns directly to the Applicant.
