Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment at 1452, 1460 and 1470 Hunt Club Road, 1525 and 1531 Sieveright Avenue: RESUMPTION OF APPLICATION PROCESS

I am writing in follow up to the circulation that was distributed to the community in January 2022 regarding the planning application for a Larga Baffin facility at the municipal addresses of 1452, 1460 and 1470 Hunt Club Road, and 1525 and 1531 Sieveright Avenue.

I have been informed that the Applicant intends to resume the application process and does not plan to revise the current application.

Since the Applicant is not planning to submit a revised application at this time, the resumption of the application means that the development application process will continue from the point where it was paused. The anticipated next steps will include:

  1. Applicant response letter (March) – In January, 2022 the City of Ottawa’s Planning Department shared a comment letter with the Applicant, which contained a summary of concerns on the application raised by City Staff and the community. It is anticipated that the Applicant will submit their response to this comment letter in the coming weeks. This will trigger the resumption of the planning application process.
  1. Public information meeting (mid-April) – I will host this meeting, during which community members will be able to ask questions and raise concerns directly to the Applicant. The meeting will be scheduled in mid-April. Once a date has been confirmed, I will circulate this information within the community.

I know that the community has many unanswered questions about Larga Baffin and there is a desire to learn more about the organization and the proposed facility. I will be organizing a meeting between Larga Baffin and the Resident Working Group before the public information meeting to begin dialogue with the community.

If you would like to receive updates about this application and the application process, including the date for the public information meeting, please sign up for my bi-weekly newsletter by visiting http://dianedeans.ca/.
