In Budget 2022, I was pleased to advise the community that funds had been allocated towards intersection improvements at Bank Street and Hunt Club Road.
The project is being recommended under the Network Modification Program where traffic congestion reduction is the main objective. As part of this project, there will be an addition of an eastbound through lane from 150m west of Bank Street to Albion Road.
The existing intersection regularly experiences traffic congestion during a prolonged period, not just the peak hour. The number of vehicles entering the intersection is relatively high, making it difficult for not only motorists to navigate, but also pedestrians and cyclists.
As part of this project, the eastbound on road cycling facility will be replaced with a much safer off-road cycle track within the boulevard area adjacent to the sidewalk. There will also be a reduction in traffic delay for eastbound vehicles, which will reduce future collisions, creating a much safer environment for all road users.
I will be hosting a Public Information Session on this project on Thursday April 21, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. Register for the meeting here.

City staff are currently in the planning process for this project and anticipate construction to start in 2023. If you would like to submit comments on the proposed plan, please email my office at diane.deans@ottawa.ca
