Application Pause: Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment at 1452, 1460 and 1470 Hunt Club Road, 1525 and 1531 Sieveright Avenue has been paused
I am writing with regard to the planning application for a Larga Baffin facility at the municipal addresses of 1452, 1460 and 1470 Hunt Club Road, and 1525 and 1531 Sieveright Avenue.
I have been informed that the Applicant has decided to pause their application.
As a result, the meeting that was scheduled to be held on January 26th, via Zoom, has been cancelled.
While the official planning process has been halted for this development, it is important the community conversations continue. I have been working over the past several weeks to establish a Resident Working Group with representatives from both the Upper Hunt Club and Southkeys Greenboro neighbourhoods. I plan to continue to meet with this group to facilitate dialogue between the community and Larga Baffin to foster a greater understanding of the organization, its operations, and the important role they play in our health care system. The Resident Working Group will also help share timely and accurate information with the community. At this time, the applicant has not indicated when they might seek to submit a revised proposal. If and when a revised proposal is submitted, I will communicate next steps.
I want to thank everyone who submitted comments on this file. I think we can all agree that the services Larga Baffin provides to the residents of Nunavut are needed. Ottawa is proud to be a host city for medical treatments that are not available in the north. However, this is a significant development in this community and resident engagement is an important part of the process.
Thank you again to everyone for your comments. If you have any questions, please contact my office at email@example.com
