|On Monday, November 8, an application will be considered at the City’s Planning Committee to permit the development of three new warehouse buildings at the municipal addresses known as 2020 Walkley Road and 2935 Conroy Road. The applicant is seeking a Zoning Bylaw Amendment to permit ‘warehouse’ as an additional use on this site. The Staff Report contains more details about this application.|

On May 20, 2021, I hosted a public meeting where the applicant presented their proposal. Residents who spoke at the meeting were displeased with the potential for increased traffic resulting from this development, the safety of cyclists who use Conroy Road as a commuter route, and the addition of large warehouses at this location. I also raised concerns about adding a warehouse use at the entrance of one of Ottawa’s premier business parks – the Ottawa Business Park. Another location which already contains a series of heavier industrial uses and warehouses, such as the nearby Hawthorne Business Park, would be a better place for this type of warehouse use.
Since that community meeting, I have met with the applicant on two occasions to try and work with them on coming to a compromise around the development of the warehouses, but they were not interested in adjusting their plans.
