In June 2021, a development application was submitted to permit a parking lot expansion and a vehicle storage facility at Otto’s BMW on Hunt Club Road.
The proposal would require the removal of a substantial number of trees from the red pine tree planation on the site, and has been met with strong opposition from members of the community concerned about the adverse environmental impacts, particularly given the current climate emergency.
Over the last couple of months, I have been working with Councillor Brockington and relevant stakeholders to find a solution to the dealership’s car storage needs that would be acceptable for the environment and to the community. We had anticipated that the application would be brought forward to the September 9th Planning Committee meeting; however, I am pleased to share that the Applicant has withdrawn their application from this meeting, and the application has been put on hold while the Applicant looks for other options or solutions to meet their needs.
