2020 Fall Tree Planting Schedule

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City’s spring 2020 planting season was postponed, and new planting requests were put on hold. I am pleased to inform that the Forestry Services’ fall planting program will run this year and planting requests for 2021 are now being accepted. This program is scheduled to begin the week of September 21st and continue until mid-November, weather permitting.

This includes tree planting in parks, at City facilities, and along streets. Where a tree planting is scheduled on City property adjacent to a residence, individual notifications will be provided to the resident in advance of planting. Residents should also expect to see utility locate flags and paint on the ground prior to planting.

This fall, Forestry Services will also have a contractor completing tending and tree planting within parks or forested areas in Gloucester-Southgate Ward. Plantings of reforestation areas are tentatively scheduled to beginning in mid to late September, and here is a list of sites:

  • Fawn Meadow Park (165 Meandering Brook Drive
  • Elizabeth Manley Park (1161 Blohm Drive)
  • Calzavara Family Park (1602 Blohm Drive)
  • Karsh Park (2150 Johnston Road)
  • Aladdin Park (3939 Albion Road)
  • Sawmill Creek Park (3600 Albion Road)
  • Bruff Park (250 Lorry Greenberg Drive)

In addition to these locations, there will be a community planting event at the 1550 Johnston Road Recreation Trail. This event is being organized through the Ottawa Sikh Society and will take place on October 3, weather permitting.
