The City received a Site Plan Control application to construct a business and industrial park providing approximately 100,000 square metres of office, warehouse and industrial space. The location of the project is in the Hawthorne-Stevenage Industrial Park immediately west of the Highway 417 / Hunt Club Road interchange.
The lands are currently owned by the NCC and will be leased to the business park for 99 years.
Currently, the overall site is made up of two distinct parcels on either side of Russell Road and are a mix of fallow and previously cultivated lands, with the largest parcel on the east side of Russell Road containing a residential dwelling, a former farm and associated vacant buildings.
The National Capital Business Park will be composed of 3 distinct sites, developed, planned and designed as a cohesive industrial park through urban design, landscape architecture, and architecture. It will be developed in phases and is intended to be warehouse type facilities.
A proposed signalized intersection on Hunt Club Road (near the new Hydro Ottawa building) will provide an almost direct access to the Highway 417.
