The Waterford Retirement Residence, (formally the Southway Inn) located at the corner of Bank Street and Hunt Club Road, has submitted a Site Plan Control application to construct a 14-storey 8,860 square metre addition to the existing Waterford Retirement Residence. The addition will be connected to the existing 6-storey building by a one storey link at ground level. The addition will contain approximately 144 dwelling units and a variety of amenities that will serve all residents of the complex.
As part of this application, an underground parking facility will be constructed to ensure sufficient parking on site. One of the three access/egress points will also be closed near the rear of the site onto Bank Street where the entrance to the former restaurant was located. A traffic study is required and will be submitted to the city for review.
