New Programming at the Albion-Heatherington Recreation Centre Community Kitchen!

The Community Kitchen is bustling with exciting new spring program offerings and events! Located at the Albion-Heatherington Recreation Centre, this interactive teaching kitchen is the first of its kind in our city facilities.

This April residents can check out a variety of new classes to sharpen their culinary skills. For kids, offerings include:

Youth Cook-off Competition There will be various competitions: blind taste tests, make a lunch with a mystery box of ingredients, as well as a dessert round similar to the reality TV show “Nailed It”. This program is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club. For more information call 613-526-5468.

For the more adventurous cook or for those looking to try new cuisines and techniques, there are several new classes that are a must try. These include:

Taste of Africa   There are so many awesome cultures about Africa and one of them is the food. During this free cooking workshop you will learn about African cultures such as Ivorian, Sierra Leone and Ghana through delicious dishes. But, that is not all!

We all know that the kitchen is the heart of every home. Well, we want this kitchen to be the heart of our community. There is no better way to celebrate, engage, and chat with our neighbours than by sharing a meal. If this sounds good to you, I encourage you to consider these additional programs:

Tea & Chat All are welcome to cook and eat at this free community lunch and get-together. Drop in to enjoy a nutritious meal and a good friendly conversation.
Community Unity Dinner Come enjoy a family dinner cooked by our community volunteers. Reserve seats by calling Louis (613 731-4157) or Suzanne (613 413-8699).
