The safety of our community is paramount. Please know that I share your concerns and fully appreciate the magnitude of last night’s homicide.
This morning, I have been assured that there is no immediate threat to residents in the area and that this was a targeted incident. However, in light of this event I have been working closely with Chief Bordeleau and our East District Inspector, and have requested that additional police resources be deployed in the community. Our Community Police officers will also be reaching out to affected stakeholders, including residents in Ottawa Community Housing, and will be knocking on doors in the surrounding area.
You can be assured that we take these incidents very seriously and I am confident that the Ottawa Police are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of our communities throughout the City of Ottawa. We want nothing more that to see the perpetrators of these crimes apprehended, charged, convicted, and sentenced to the full extent of the law.
We are all partners in keeping our community safe and we need to come together to crack down on the current gun violence. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Ottawa Police at 613-236-1222.
